Foremost Property Group offers some key points to consider

Buying a house in France can be an exciting time but it can be riddled with challenges if you go into the process under prepared. At Foremost Property Group we speak to property buyers every day, so can help you prepare yourself when fulfilling your dream.

When buying a house abroad you need to ask yourself three key questions – where do you want to buy? what are you looking for in a property?, what is your budget?

First decide which region/department of France you would like to buy in. This will narrow down your search area and help not overwhelm you.

Once you have decided the area you would like your property to be in, start thinking about what type of property you would like. Did you want a gîte, a property you can use for a B&B business, an apartment, one with a pool? When you have an idea of your ideal property, you can then move on to budget.

Budget is important as it will show you what properties you can afford when you start researching what is on the market.

When you have answered these questions with as much detail and precision as possible, then you have a good starting point for your French property search. You may have to adjust your requirements throughout your house-hunting process. However, don’t give up hope on finding your dream property but be realistic with what you are looking for.
